SIBERIAN EXPRESS

Lake Baikal is the largest freshwater lake in the world, containing 23% of the earth's fresh surface water. That's more water than the North American Great Lakes combined! It is considered the world's oldest lake at 25–30 million years and at 1,642 m in depth is also recognized as the deepest.

Atop this unique frozen body of water, Ray Zahab and I undertook our 2010 - Siberian Express expedition. We started our journey at the southern end at the village of Slyudyanka and headed north to the village of Nizhneangarsk at the far northern end.

On March 13, 2010 we completed the 640km journey in 13 days 16 hours, bettering the previous mark at the time by over a week.
